We began our February walk at the John Morley Reserve, overlooking the boats in the bay – I always love introducing people to the gorgeous parks and walk ways we have in the Western Suburbs!
Several new comers, including a Spoodle and a Labradoodle, joined the regular crew - a Shepherd, a Retriever, a Visla, the Jack Russel Brigade and all the various Terriers – and we headed up to the off-leash area where the dogs enjoyed having a running, swimming and chasing each other around. Even the less-adventurous dogs dipped a couple of paws in the water!
The weather was warm and after we were all sufficiently exhausted, we strolled back the Reserve and relaxed with some coffee while the dogs got stuck into their Doggy Cool Treats.
Loads of fun was had by all, and both Beth and I had to go home and have a nap! Hope to see you all again at our next walk at Gloucester Park, Williamstown on Saturday 17 March – more details on the dogabout website.
Cheers,
Christie

Following some fantastic publicity in the local Whittlesea newspaper, plenty of new dogs turned up to enjoy our Dogabout at The Gorge in South Morang.
Around 34 dogs and their owners enjoyed the cool breeze sweeping up the ravine as we ambled along the Gorge Walk. Some dogs crossed the goat track to a paddock where they could run free, whilst Albert, the cheeky Golden Retriever (who you may remember went missing in action at the last walk) found another puddle to play in.
Rosie’s birthday was celebrated by everyone singing her Happy Birthday and signing a card. Please let us know if it’s your dog’s birthday so we can sing for them too!
As always, Daisy had a great time making new friends and making sure they shared their treats with her – just check out the photos, she can’t get enough of those Doggy Cool treats!
We have several new walks coming up:
Christie will be holding a Dogabout in Williamstown on 24th February.
Jaimi will be hosting her very first walk at President’s Park in Werribee on the 25th of February.
Daisy and I will be in Ivanhoe on the 24th March.
Please see the website home page for further details and registration.
If you would like a walk at YOUR favourite park, please let me know and I will arrange it. Your suggestions are very welcome – Daisy and I love to find new parks, beaches and wooded areas to have a stroll – so please, let me know of your favourite place. Dogabout is all about sharing great areas, having fun, meeting new people and pets and making friends. So please come along, everyone is welcome!
Yours in Paws,
Mal and Daisy.

Our very first Dogabout was on one of the coldest days we’ve had this summer! It was only around 11 degrees and we had wind and rain, but no one was complaining and the weather didn’t put many people off – we had walkers coming all the way from Mulgrave!
It was a great turnout and every dog that came along got their own funky bandana to wear and some very tasty Doggy Cool Treats.
We had a lovely walk around the lakes and afterwards relaxed with coffee and biscuits whilst the dogs played and posed for photos. They were all very well behaved and it was great to see dogs of all shapes and sizes out for the day - from a tiny little Chihuahua to a big strong German Shepherd.
Thanks everyone for coming along, Beth and I look forward to seeing you all again at our next walk!

Happy New Year!
Our first walk of 2007 had some very pleasant weather and a fantastic turnout, with 23 dogs and their owners enjoying a lovely stroll through the newly renovated Sycamore Park.
The city of Whittlesea, in conjunction with Melbourne Water, has spent a small fortune re-establishing the creek that runs through the park. Albert the Golden Retriever seemed most impressed with the recent renovations - having disappeared for quite some time, he was finally found frolicking in a rock pool full of green algae! Very cheeky!
It was great to see some kids attending the walk too. Those of you who attended our Christmas walk will remember Caitlyn (she received a letter from Santa that said she would be getting a puppy for Christmas), well this month Caitlyn and her family welcomed Jack the Staffy into their family! Congratulations!
Overall it was a lovely afternoon, with everyone enjoying tea, coffee and conversation in the shade. Daisy had a great time checking out the new park, and we both loved meeting some new dogs and their owners.
We have walks coming up at Newport Lakes and President’s Park with our new Walk Leaders Christie and Jaimi. Details can be found on the dogabout website (www.dogabout.com.au) - we look forward to seeing you there!

It was a hot, dry day in Toowoomba, with temperatures soaring to around 34’C in the shade! It seems the heat must have put several walkers off, as the turnout was smaller than expected. However, Hugo, Pumba and their owners braved the heat and joined Onyx and myself for a stroll through the trees, which thankfully provided some much needed shade.
Despite the heat, the dogs were happy to pose for a few festive photos decked out in a Santa’s hat. And Hugo entertained us all when he decided to swim in one of the water bowls!
Both dogs and humans had a rest and a cool drink in the shade before the dogs swapped Christmas presents - both were happy to go home with a new squeaky toy!
Thankyou to everyone who has attended our walks - we look forward to seeing you next year!
Check out the Dogabout home page for next walk details.
Happy Holidays!
Ingrid and Onyx.

What a brilliant turnout for our first ever Dogabout Christmas Party! Around 34 dogs and their owners ventured into the heat to enjoy an afternoon of great fun and activities. Mal’s gazebo provided some much needed shade, and the dogs enjoyed cooling off in the ice pool.
After a short walk around Findon Reserve, the real fun and games began! Prizes were awarded to the oldest and youngest dogs, the dog with the waggiest tail and the most recently adopted dog. Prizes were also awarded for the best trick - which was very hard to judge as there were some seriously clever dogs involved! Even harder to judge was the Best Dressed Dog, with several prizes awarded because so many dogs looked fabulous.
Team events included bobbing for treats, and a tennis ball and spoon race. Each member of the winning team received some tasty Doggy Cool treats and a discount voucher for the newly opened 4legs Fresh Choice Store. The Dog-Kringle was a huge success - the present box was overflowing! Gifts were laid out on the ground so the dogs could have a sniff and choose their own present.
During the afternoon, lucky Caitlyn (4 years old) received a letter from Santa! Although her family do not own a dog, they regularly attend our walks to show Caitlyn the responsibility involved in owning a pet. Santa’s surprise letter to Caitlyn informed her that she would be getting a dog for Christmas! 4legs donated a gorgeous bowl and lead to Caitlyn which she proudly displayed to everyone. Well done Caitlyn!
It was a wonderful afternoon of fun for dogs and owners alike and within five minutes of arriving home, Daisy was fast asleep! (check out her photo)
From Daisy and myself, may I take this opportunity to wish you and your fur kids a wonderful festive season! Thankyou for joining us in our first Christmas Party and we hope you can make it to our next walk - 13 January 2007!
Happy Festive Season Friends!
Mal and Daisy xx

Our last walk of the year started out well, with several newcomers: Lenice and Chloe, Jane with Rigby and Smarty, and Meredith with Fudge. After everyone met and the dogs became acquainted, we all enjoyed a lovely walk around the race track. The dogs particularly enjoyed the romp in the dam and many of our regular walkers participated in some agility activities as well!
Many thanks to everyone who attended this event, and past walks as well. Hope to see you at our next walk in March, 2007, once more we will be heading to Hudson Park in Kilmore, located on the main street, opposite Lancefield Rd. Finalised date will be added to the website soon keep checking for details, see http://www.dogabout.com.au.

Another perfect day for another fantastic dogabout! This time, 28 dogs and their owners slapped on the sunscreen and set off for a lovely stroll through historic Bundoora Park.
Starting at the Bundoora Park Animal Farm, we made our way down to golf range where my weaving poles were set up - once again these proved to be a great success!
Children and dogs alike were fascinated by the farm animals, especially the goats and llamas - I’m pretty sure the goats looked quite tasty to some of the dogs!
One couple who were walking their pugalier nearby saw the fun we were having and asked to join our walk and they’ve already registered for next month’s walk - great to see!
A big thank you to all those who travelled far and wide to attend the walk - we had people from as far as Rye and the Mornington Peninsula.
It was a great turn out and there was heaps of interest in our next walk - a Christmas party on November 19!
Daisy and I look forward to welcoming both old and new walkers and their best mates to our Christmas Party at Findon Reserve, Mill Park.

Fifteen minutes before Toowoomba’s first Dogabout walk, the heavens opened and dumped almost 12mm of rain in 10 minutes! Despite this, an enthusiastic group of people still ventured out to see if the dogabout walk was going ahead. Luckily by the time we all got to the park, the storm had cleared and we had some sunshine to enjoy!
Five dogs and their owners joined Onyx and I for our first walk. The dogs ranged in size from Genta, the tiny Australian Silky Terrier, to Tinto, the big black Lab.
We set off from the park on Cypress Street, through suburbia to a bushland park - the rain had left everything clean and fresh, so we all enjoyed being outside! We even encountered a large green frog, which had probably come out to enjoy in the rain! The park was lovely, although we weren’t lucky enough to see any wallabies - maybe just as well since we had 5 dogs with us!
After close to an hour’s walk we returned to the park where we’d started, where we enjoyed a drink and some biscuits. The dogs were very happy socialise and get their show bags with Doggy Cool treats!
Unfortunately a few of the registered walkers were put off by the weather and didn’t make it - hopefully we’ll see them next time!
Thank you to all who attended, Onyx and I look forward to seeing you at our next walk on Sunday the 26th November. Also, a big thank you to 4legs for the funky bandanas and treats for all the dogs!
Details of our next walk:
When: Sunday 26 November - 3.15pm
Where: Glen Lomdond Park, Burraway Court (drive to the end of the cul-de-sac) Middle Ridge, Toowoomba (Map Ref: Toowoomba and the Golden West UBD, page 25, Map 12: K2)
See you next time,
Ingrid and Onyx

Our dogs were so well behaved and they all got along wonderfully! I thought the highlight of the walk was when the dogs decided to go for a swim! It was great to see the dogs and the kids all having fun and playing and it was great to see everyone smiling and having a great time.
The whole event was very uplifting and I know most of us could have spent the whole afternoon just sitting and watching the dogs play! I’m very much looking forward Christmas walk! Don’t forget to register for some great fun!
Many thanks to everyone who made the time to participate in this great day. Thanks also to 4legs for their tasty treats. A big thank you to Barry Bosnich and Bob Clavan from 96.5 Inner FM for inviting me onto their program and allowing me to advertise the walk!
Take care and see you next time,
Jamie and Gandalf
